Pruning your plants/trees is key to getting a full plant and a long lasting harvest

When is the best season to prune your trees ?

Proper pruning is vital to the health of trees and plants
  • Late fall is a good time to prune your trees.

Not only are trees dormant in the colder months, but it is also easier to see a tree's structure when there are no leaves on the branches.
  • Proper pruning is vital to the health of trees and plants

it relieves stress on trees and keeps them growing.
  • Just be aware that each tree is different, and pruning at the wrong time or the wrong way can injure a tree making it more susceptible.

Winter is the pruning Season

Pruning is Key to getting a full plant and a long lasting harvest through the growing season.
Whenever you see flower heads starting to develop, you need to cut it or pinch them off.
This will stimulate new growth making the plant larger and setting it back so that it keeps growing new stems and leaves.

Pruning Your Peppers

  • In your first harvest, you'll notice the peppers looking perfect, and after that the size gets smaller, shape gets wonky
So in my experience, after the first big harvest, we usually prune all peppers, as you prune for over winter
  • Solution:
Prune just above the 3rd or 4rth node, counting from the bottom
This will allow more light to reach lower nodes, triggering new growth.
  • After pruning, we add all purpose fertilizer, mulch and water.
In couple of weeks, new branches will grow and you'll get bushy pepper again

Pruning The Lower Branches of tomato plant

  • Pruning those lower branches help tremendously if you live in hot, humid areas where plants tend to struggle with light and disease (Tomato for example).
  • Try removing the branches on he botton 12-18 inches of your plant and see if it impacts your harvest
  • Benefits:
    • Better air flow
    • Less pest damage
    • Reduce soil-borbe disease
    • Increase fruit production
    • Make harvesting easier, fruit are easier to locate
    • Make it easier to tie to a stake or trellis, thus keeping the plant off the ground

3 Things to do after pruning

  • Apply fungicide on the freshly cut part
  • Give them a good amount of fertilizer
  • Propagate the cutting to make new plants
